FIRST VISIT

What to Expect at Your First Visit

Come prepared. Leave with a clearer understanding.

Your first visit is designed to understand what is bothering you, examine the problem, explain what we find, and help determine what should happen next.

We do not begin with a predetermined treatment plan. We begin with an evaluation.

BEFORE YOUR VISIT

A Few Simple Ways to Prepare

PLAN FOR ABOUT 60 MINUTES

Your first visit allows time for the history, examination, explanation of findings, and discussion of what should happen next.

  • Wear comfortable clothing. Your examination may involve movement and position changes.
  • Bring a photo ID.
  • Bring your insurance information if it applies to your visit.
  • Bring a current medication list.
  • Bring relevant records or previous imaging information. X-ray, MRI, CT, or other reports may be helpful when they relate to the problem being evaluated.
  • Bring accident or work-related information when applicable.
  • Complete your secure patient forms before your visit when possible.
Patient forms are completed through our secure patient system.

Please do not send private medical information through the public website.

If records need to be sent before your visit, the office can provide instructions for sending them through the appropriate secure process.

Auto accident or work-related visit?

Auto accident patients should use the dedicated Auto Accident / Personal Injury appointment when scheduling online. Formal workers’ compensation cases should call before scheduling so the office can review any network, authorization, or administrative requirements.

Strategic is not currently participating as an in-network workers’ compensation provider.

YOUR EVALUATION

What Happens During the Visit?

We start with the problem you came in for—not with a predetermined treatment.

1

We Start by Listening

We take time to understand your symptoms, history, concerns, and goals before deciding what comes next.

2

We Examine the Problem

Your examination is based on what you are experiencing and may include movement, orthopedic, neurologic, strength, spinal mechanics, or other appropriate testing.

3

We Explain What We Find

You should leave with a clearer understanding of what we found, what it may mean, and what options make sense.

4

We Decide What Comes Next

Depending on the findings, the next step may include treatment, rehabilitation, home recommendations, imaging, referral, or another appropriate pathway.

Not every patient needs the same treatment, and an adjustment is not automatically part of every first visit or treatment plan.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Questions About the First Visit

Will the examination hurt?

Some parts of an examination may reproduce or temporarily increase a symptom because we are evaluating the movements or areas that are bothering you. Tell us what you are feeling so the examination can be adjusted when appropriate.

Will I get adjusted or treated on the first visit?

Not necessarily. Treatment depends on what the evaluation supports, what is appropriate for your situation, and what you are comfortable with.

Do I need an X-ray or MRI first?

No. Imaging is not automatically required before your first visit. If you already have imaging, bring the report or let us know about it. Additional imaging is considered when it may help answer an important clinical question or change the plan.

What if chiropractic care is not the right next step?

We will discuss that with you. If additional testing, another provider, co-management, or a different level of care makes more sense, that can become part of the plan.

PREVIOUS IMAGING

Have an X-Ray, MRI, or CT?

Previous imaging may be useful when it relates to the problem being evaluated.

We consider imaging together with your symptoms, history, examination findings, neurologic findings when relevant, and function.

An imaging finding by itself does not automatically explain symptoms or determine treatment.
