WORK INJURIES & SPINE CARE IN IRVING

Work Injury Spine Care in Irving, Texas

A work-related neck or back injury can affect how you move, feel, and do your job. We evaluate the problem, work-related function, and appropriate next steps. If you have a Texas workers’ compensation claim, call first so we can review whether your claim is eligible for care at our office.

SCHEDULING & WORKERS’ COMPENSATION

Can You Choose Strategic for a Work Injury?

Some Texas workers’ compensation patients whose claims are not in a certified health care network may choose an eligible treating doctor. If your claim is in a certified network, you usually must use its participating providers unless an exception or advance approval applies.

Strategic is not contracted with a certified workers’ compensation health care network. We can review whether an eligible non-network work-injury claim may be treated at our Irving office. Please call before scheduling so we can confirm your network status, treating-doctor requirements, and any needed approvals.

Already seeing a treating doctor? Changing doctors on a non-network claim generally requires approval from the Texas Division of Workers’ Compensation, except for certain circumstances. Our office must confirm the proper process before a transfer.

Helpful information when you call: your employer’s name, workers’ compensation insurance carrier, claim number if available, adjuster contact information if available, and whether another provider is already your treating doctor.

We cannot promise that a claim or treatment will be covered before eligibility, compensability, and authorization requirements are reviewed. Please do not send medical records or personal identifiers through a public website form.

START WITH THE PROBLEM

A Work Injury Is More Than a Diagnosis Code

A diagnosis can be useful, but it does not explain by itself how the problem affects work function or what should happen next. We consider the history, examination findings, function, actual work demands when relevant, prior care, available imaging, and other clinically relevant information.

The goal is to identify what is limited, what can be appropriately managed, and whether another provider or level of care should become involved.

HOW THE PROBLEM STARTED

Work-Related Problems Do Not All Begin the Same Way

A work-related spine problem may follow a specific event, repetitive activity, gradual onset, or another work-related circumstance. How symptoms started is clinically useful, but the reported mechanism is considered together with the examination, function, prior history, and other relevant information.

YOUR EVALUATION

What We Look At

The evaluation is meant to connect the clinical findings with the activities and job demands that matter in real life.

How the Problem Started

We review whether the condition followed a specific event, repetitive activity, gradual onset, or another work-related circumstance.

Symptoms & Examination

The evaluation may include movement, strength, sensation, reflexes, orthopedic findings, neurologic findings when relevant, and other appropriate testing.

Function & Job Demands

We consider how the condition affects lifting, carrying, sitting, standing, walking, driving, reaching, and other relevant job duties.

Prior Care, Imaging & Records

Existing imaging, occupational-health records, emergency or urgent-care records, prior treatment, and other relevant information may help clarify the clinical picture.

FUNCTION & WORK DEMANDS

Function & Work Demands

When work function is relevant, we consider what activities appear limited, what abilities are supported by the clinical findings, and how those findings relate to relevant job demands.

Clinical recommendations may change as the condition and function change.

Work-related recommendations should be based on supported abilities and limitations rather than vague labels.

Function should be specific.Examples may include lifting, carrying, sitting, standing, walking, driving, reaching, pushing, pulling, bending, or other job-related activities.

CONSERVATIVE MANAGEMENT

Care Should Support Recovery and Function

For patients we are able to accept, some work-related spine problems may be managed conservatively in our office.

When appropriate, care may include chiropractic treatment, therapeutic exercise or rehabilitation, movement and activity recommendations, home care, and reassessment, with attention to whether movement, tolerance, and function are improving.

MEASURED PROGRESS

Track Symptoms, Function, and Response Over Time

Progress should reflect meaningful clinical and functional change—not just the number of visits completed.

Symptoms and symptom frequency
Movement and range of motion
Strength
Neurologic findings when relevant
Activity tolerance
Work-related function
Daily activities
Response to the plan of care
If progress is not occurring as expected, the plan should be reassessed. That may mean modifying treatment, progressing rehabilitation, obtaining additional information, reconsidering the diagnosis, or involving another healthcare provider.

IMAGING & CLINICAL CORRELATION

Imaging Is Considered Alongside the Clinical Findings

If you already have X-rays, MRI, CT, or other relevant testing, that information may be useful. We consider imaging together with the history, examination, neurologic findings when relevant, and function rather than treating an imaging finding as the entire diagnosis.

Additional imaging may be considered when it could answer an important clinical question or change management.

REFERRAL & CARE COORDINATION

Work-Related Care May Involve More Than One Provider

Some patients may need medication management, additional testing, a procedure, specialist consultation, or another level of care. Sometimes another provider or level of care is simply the correct next step.

Care should stay connected.Evaluation, conservative management, rehabilitation, imaging, referral, and follow-up may all play a role as the clinical situation evolves.

PROMPT MEDICAL ATTENTION

Some Symptoms Should Not Wait for a Routine Chiropractic Visit

Prompt medical evaluation may be appropriate after significant trauma or when symptoms include significant or progressive weakness, major changes in coordination or balance, concerning bowel or bladder changes, severe or rapidly worsening symptoms, or other findings suggesting a more serious problem.

If symptoms appear urgent or potentially life-threatening, seek appropriate emergency medical care rather than waiting for a routine appointment.

SCHEDULING WORK-RELATED CARE

Scheduling Work-Related Care

Work-related visits may involve different scheduling and administrative requirements depending on whether a formal workers’ compensation claim is involved.

We are not contracted with a certified workers’ compensation network. We can review possible non-network Texas claims for eligibility before you schedule.

Call our office if you have an active claim. We will review the carrier, network status, whether you are selecting your first treating doctor or requesting a change, and any approvals needed before we confirm a visit.

If your symptoms are related to work but are not being handled through a workers’ compensation claim, you may still contact us to discuss the appropriate scheduling pathway.

Please do not send protected health information through a public website form or ordinary email. We will explain the appropriate secure process for intake and records.
